The Public Planning Institute founded in 2005 is the first real Russian think-tank producing solutions for urgent socio-political and socio-economical problems on the basis of its research initiatives. Institute's activity focuses at civil society development in Russia and rests on the principles of cooperation with political and public organizations, executive and legislative authorities, scientific community and business.

The Institute's fundamental scientific developments include researches 'Russian Society Stratification', 'Russian Economic Doctrine: to Bring the Leadership Back!', 'Modern Political Atlas', 'State and Prospects of Russian Political System in 2008 - 2009'.

The Public Planning Institute is engaged in organizational, educational and publishing activities. Since 2008 it has become the largest in Russia non-governmental grantor in the sphere of social sciences.

The Public Planning Institute organizes international lecture program 'Russian Reading' which provides an opportunity for Russian scientists, politicians and businessmen to get acquainted with latest studies in social sciences.

In 2008 the Institute found a literature prize 'Public Thought', which is awarded to authors of the best books on scientific-social agenda. The same year the Institute found the 'Fourth Power' journalism prize promoting high standards of media coverage of political and social issues.

The bill on the Public Chamber of Russia was prepared with the participation of the Public Planning Institute.
